I know that there is a faction of our society that is under the impression that golf courses are bad for our environment and superintendents are the evildoers that are perpetrating sins against the world in which we live. But on January 28 members of the Vancouver Island Golf Course Superintendents Association (VIGSA) held a charity hockey game and banquet to raise money in support of the fight against Multiple Sclerosis.

Longtime Golf Course Superintendent and industry pioneer Gord Witteveen will be posthumously inducted into the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame in January 2013. Only the second Superintendent to recieve such an honour, Witteveen's hard work and dedication to the industry has served us all very well over the years.
